Penny Haywood Calder runs PHPR Ltd, (online PR and media relations).

She is a former personal and small business journalist and has written for IPC magazines, The Sunday Times and CA magazine.

She has been online since 1985 when she launched the world’s first online bank while working in-house for Bank of Scotland.
Penny has won various UK and Scottish awards for editing publications and public speaking.

From 1987, Penny has championed DIY PR (a term she probably coined) to help small businesses get onto the publicity ladder. She wrote DIYPR, the small business owner’s guide to ‘free’ publicity (Pub: Batsford 1998). She is now often asked to speak on online publicity and social media.

Penny is currently setting up Publicity Clubs for small business owners with backing from HSBC, on top of running PHPR and working with her husband’s online TV company, BitWeb.tv on dedicated online publicity services.
